Touring on his latest album “Big Big Machine,” Danish singer Alex Vargas starts in Berlin at Hole44 on 9 March, before travelling to Cologne and throughout Denmark in October. The full length release includes singles “Yougazer,” and “Pages.” Both of which are quickly amassing streams, keeping up with Vargas’ global popularity.
The Danish Music Award winner began his solo career with 2016 EP “Giving Up the Ghost,” followed by 2017 LP “Cohere,” 2019 EPs “SuperEGO” and “EGOtrip,” and LP “Ego,” 2021 EP “Alex Vargas Synger Toppen Af Poppen,” and 2023 LP “Big Big Machine.” His 2017 single “Higher Love,” appeared in a Diesel avertisement. In addition to his singing career, Vargas also made a Cameo on Season 3 of Ted Lasso.

Alex Vargas’ “Big Big Machine” Influences
In an interview with Kulturnews, Vargas cites the 60’s and 70’s as influences of “Big Big Machine.” He mentioned being immersed in that time period during the writing process. In particular, he references the exploratory nature of how music was composed. Vargas also says that this album is a pivotal moment in that it invites the listener to be more open.

These themes carry through with artistic decisions regarding the album artwork. It visually represents the open-mindedness Vargas is trying to convey in his music. Since Vargas is entering a new chapter, he chose a flower to show blooming as a symbol of liberation. Focusing on the 60’s and 70’s helped Vargas break from familiar habits, allowing him to find a different path.
